Akshara has also started the  'Akshara Art of Learning' at Sathanur (Yelahanka) which is based on the Montessori principles. This branch offers classes from pre-primary till the 9th standard (for now) and is likely to offer the higher level classes as the years progress. Akshara offers the ICSE curriculum (and NIOS for high school students)

The school does not seem to have a website. The only information that we could gather was from the official Indian Montessori Center's website.

hi freda, r u sure akshara follows ICSE syllabus? or is it NIOS? i m interested n the school in yelahanka, but had concerns wth the syllabus.. they r not listed in the icse website either...

Hi Freda and Jyothi, as far some parents told me they don't have any computer classes, what is but required in the icse syllabus. Also history seems not to cover really the same like they do in icse. I don't know about library classes being required or not, but they don't have any library, even Akshara is writing it in their broschure. I was also considering the school, they have a beautiful campus with a lot of nature and animals. But the problem with the syllabus is there and they don't have sports with a supervising sport teacher, no music class and very rarely art classes.

What class is your daughter in ?
We visited the school and liked it a lot and are thinking of admitting our 3 year old daughter there.
Could we have your opinion about the school ?
Any idea how the teaching is in the higher classes?

Anyone have any idea about what the fee structure is like for this school?

When I called, they said that they were ICSE !

Hi Sunita,

Thanks for pointing it out. We called the school up and it seems that it is neither. They are offering NIOS. Hope that helps.

HI,
My daughter has been going to Akshara since 2010 and now completed an entire year there. I would say it is the best school that my 3 year old daughter could have had and still does. She totally enjoys her school and hates holidays :) Its a lovely school for little kids. Not yet sure about higher classes - but we intend her to continue there in the Yelahanka school as well...

Hi, nice for you Pinto.
My child is in that school and i am not very happy. The principal is calling the boys donkeys, tells there should not be any boys at all in this world and puts kids coming from other schools down telling them they can't have learned anything at the other schools, only her school is the best and even calls other schools by names. If they want to tell that they know, she will not let them speak or overhear the answer. But actually she is missing out so many things in her own syllabus. They mainly teach biology and maths, no computer classes or recent history or library, also many things from the practical EVS is missing which are taught in the other schools. Some people don't mind the differnt syllabus for the sake of an inspiring montessori environment. But putting down children and trying to prove that they don't know anything is not inspiring at all. I write all this, because i would have been happy to have read some more reviews about this school before. The compound of the school looked so beautifull and inviting.

Hi could u pls let me know exactly which branch are u refering to
ulsoor one or the yelahanka one.
could u pls provide me ur no.

Thanks
Tharun Amma
