Apoorva Center for Autism is an educational and rehabilitation center started in 1996 by SAI (Society for Autistics in India) with the support of the Lions Club of Sarakki. It is currently located at the premises of Lions Club of Sarakki at J.P.Nagar 2nd Phase, Bangalore.

The center is involved in a variety of activities from Early Intervention Program to Community awareness campaigns.

Presently the centre has 44 students trained by a dedicated team of professionals and care-givers. The center also provides practical training to Teacher-trainees of the Special Education program in Autism, conducted by KPAMRC, Bangalore.

NOTE: Currently admissions are open for 4 students between 5 and 25 years.

As the article explains, it may be just that the educated parents may end up spotting it and try and address it and hence the skew in statistics.
