Details

BGSNPS (BalaGangadaranatha Swamiji National Public School) is founded by Pontiff His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagangadaranatha Swamiji of Adhichunchanagiri Math. Sri Adhichunchanagiri education trust is running over 350 educational institutions including medical and engineering colleges.

Currently, the school is offering classes from pre-primary till 9th grade and follows the CBSE curriculum. The typical number of students per class seem to be about 25-30.

BGSNPS is sponsored by Dr.K.P. Gopalakrishna Chairman, NPS group of institution. Reputed to be a great institution builder he has a legacy of nurturing learning schools of world-class standards.

Sri. S.A. Nair, the Principal of BGSNPS is a President’s Awardee in 2002 and is the former Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Malleswaram, Bangalore. He brings with him rich experience of 40 years symbolized by proficiency and innovation.

It is interesting to see that the school has published the "selection criteria" that seems to be a point based system (http://www.bgsnps.com/eligibility.htm). It is definitely a welcome step to enable transparency in the admission process (though of course there is no way by which one can verify the same).

FYI - The application form for admission can be downloaded from here: http://www.bgsnps.com/downloads.htm

NOTE: The admission process for 2011-2012 will begin from the middle of August. You can get further deatils about that here: http://www.bgsnps.com/admission.htm

Comments

I am very disappointed with the admission process conducted for PP1. We had submitted the application form in Aug (within one week when they issued the forms). We called up the school last week and they said that only sibling admission has started yet. Yesterday, we called again and they said the admission process is over.

Hi,
I was surprising to see some comments below, the last date for submitting the application was 17. sep. 2011, do you know they were received more than 300 application for PP1 on 17.08.2011, in spite of that the are accepting the application without any proper communication, when we went and enquired already admission over and our kids are still in the waiting list 175+. Imagine their over subscription. Each registration will be an income to school Rs. 800 x no. over subscription.

Pl. have it checked before submitting your application. Do not relay on this school only as they will give you so much surprises.

Kids Punishment. Does it happen a lot in this school? Has it been a major matter of concern with this school?
We were inclined towards this school but are skeptical now...

Hello All, We are planning to admit my son to PP-I in next academic year. Few threads below talk about punishment to kids. Does it happen very often? and, has it been a real matter of concern with the parents?
We were very much inclined to this school but these threads have made us little skeptical about it now.. Please advise.

Hello,

My son is studying in BGS NPS from last 2 years & this year he will be in PP3. We are very happy with school. This year they have changed school timing for pre primary section & new timings are 9.30 to 1.30 (instead of 8.30 to 12.30). I think think this new timing is not good for child as well as parents. I am requesting school authorities to revert back to old timings. Any comments,

Thanks
Manoj

Hi Manoj,
My daughter will also go in PP3 this year.I just want to know how u came to know about the change of timing.

My daughter will be writing an entrance test to get admission into 5th standard in BGS. Can any one let me know as how the entrance test will be and in which subjects. The info will help me to brush up her syllabus. Will it be tough to get through the test?

I have admitted my son to Kindergarden. The Annual Fees is Rs 40 thousand not Rs 60 thousand as mentioned above.

I would like to comment on the non scholastic activities of the school. As a parent I know that BGS NPS encourages Collaboration with other egencies such as Oracle Education Foundation, British Council, Shwinder electric ,National Children's science Congress etc. These collaborations have helped the students in taking up many Projects. This is a strong point of the school. Yes there are cases of punishments to studetns. But they are minor in nature. Any thing brought to the notice of the authorities are taken care.

Hi,

How manys sections they have in nursery and LKG?

What is probability of admission in BGS?

They have 8 sections in nursery, LKG and UKG. For classed above 1st to 11th, you have to check with the school for number of sections as it varies since the school was increasing the number of sections gradually. Their admission is based on First Come, First Serve with priority given to people matching the selection criteria they have on their website. Visit the school to find out the current status.

Thanks for letting me know that the admission fees and first installment fees at BGSNPS works out to Rs. 60000. Is this a one time payment?

How much does the term fees work out to and how many terms are there at BGSNPS ? I am asking this to know the monthly expenses towards school fees. This will help me to plan accordingly. Also want to know the distance of this school from Lake city,Kodichikkanahalli.

Feedback in this regard would be highly appreciated

Hello Parents, We have taken down a few comments from this thread. We have noticed a pattern of someone posting comments under different names (Santhosh, Suma, Sushmitha) and hence believe they are "spammy" in nature and are forced to take them down.

We believe in providing a space where true experiences are shared.

Thanks,

-Zeeksha Team

What exactly is the connection between NPS and BGS NPS? Specifically:

1. Other than Dr Gopalakrishnan, is there anyone common on the management team?
2. What is NPS commitment to BGS NPS?
3. Is there a potential risk that NPS Management decides to withdraw from BGS NPS, and then this is no longer affiliated or has any relationship with NPS?
4. Is there any financial or teaching involvement from NPS in BGS NPS?
5. Why is BGS NPS not mentioned as any of the branches on the NPS website?

I have shortlisted BGS NPS for my daughter for Pre KG, and would be obliged if anyone can respond to the above.

Thanks and regards,
Suresh

I as a parent happend to attend the jyotidaan function of BGS NPS where class X, the first batch were given a send off. It was a memmorable experience for both the students and the Parents. It was meticulously planned and organised function with ll its divine nature. Mahaswamiji's presence and other dignatories added the importance of the function. No other school, as far as I know, has arranged such a function for their students. Keep up the tradition and the value based program of BGS NPS. Principal deserves all appreciation for his commitment and involvement.

Let me also add a few things about the school. It appears to be a new generation school.

Since few of my collegues are sending their kids to BGS NPS, I decided to visit the school and also sought their feedback about the teaching standard as well as the school culture. In general, their feedback was positive on the school with no adverse comments. I also liked the infrastructure of the school as well as the accessibility on the BG road. Hence I also joined the admission race in BGS NPS after submitting the form in early October. After a long wait, we were informed about the admission date in Dec first week.

I have completed the admission formalities in BGS NPS for my son for PP-1(pre primary) recently and here is my experience on the same. Our appointment with the principal was intimated to us by email with the timeslot of 10 AM to 12 Noon and we were there at 10 AM sharp. On approaching the reception, the receptionist sent the admission form to the principal while asking us to wait in the reception. Within 5 minutes, We were called into the Prinicipal room for the interaction session. The interaction lasted for around 10 minutes. The principal primarily focussed on our(me & my wife) education and where I work and also interacted with my son briefly. I felt that the interaction was meant for better understanding the background of the child rather than testing/interviewing the child or the parent. Then we were asked to pay the admission fee for confirming the admission.

In a nutshell, I can say that the interaction was a pleasant one and a stress free experience compared to what other schools are doing(where they test/interview the kid & parents). Also the principal is a a very nice gentleman from what I can see from the brief interaction with him. Througout the interaction, he ensured that my son is at ease by engaging him in the conversation and at times he also spoke to my son in our mother tongue.

We had applied to the school in early October and till now, I have had called the school atleast 10+ times and visited the school several times. And every time(on the phone as well as in the school campus), I found the admin people to be very cordial in answering my (anxious) calls/questions. In short, they were completely professional in handling the admission process.

Dear Parents,

I am trying my best to admit my daughter in BGSNPS for Nursery. Please can any one give me valuable feedback on the same.

like to know about BGS from parents who are sending their kids to this school, am
considering this school for my kids.

It is a mediocre school. There is nothing good or bad to talk about. On bad thing about the school is the high attrition rates and no teacher stays for long. Good thing about the school is unlike NPS it doesn't want to churn out robots who can score only 95% and above.

The school is yet to evolve and develop its USP along with a plethora of other schools mushrooming in this area. Hopefully the school will be able to capitalise on the BGS's wealth and make it different.

Rumi

I cannot agree with Rumi. I am also a parent of that school since its beginning.I have a different openion about the school. The staff of the school is very professional and they take care of the students very well. Teachers are very good and they do their job very well.

some teachers are really dedicated , if your child is fortunate he or she will get the benefit....but some only come for easy job and pocket money...they leave the school when ever they feel like... beating kids is common by some short tempered teachers...don't they realize that kids loose confidence feel insulted,?? Don't they realize that teachers should be approachable and not scary??One good thing is school is also blessed with some very good teachers, but your child should be fortunate to get that section!

The good points about the school is good adminstartation. I agree that most of the teachers beat children , which can afftect the self confidence of the child , it is happening to my child . The general discipline in class rooms ,bus, playground is not friendly . Standard of corrections and Hindi teaching needs to be improved .
It is a common sight to see teacher commenting about a particular child infront of other children, which leaves a bad taste in the mind of the child .Hope teachers will be trained to give freedom to the child to express openly and treat boys and girls equally with out partiality towards girls !!!

how old is ur kid? was shocked to read that they beat in BGS. Had read all good reviews about the school so had almost decided that it would be BGS for my kid, but then ur review changed my decision a bit. If they beat the kid then which kid would like to go to school.

Which class your kids are attending?. I am really surprised to hear that the teachers beat the children. I hope that these teachers don't beat the kids in pre-primary classes at least as they will be too young to understand. Also why do these teachers beat the kids?.Also what do you mean by "general discipline in class rooms ,bus, playground is not friendly "?

Since these issues are very sensitive issues, did you parents take up these issues to the principal so that these issues are addressed?. Let us hope the school management will take these feedback in good spirit. I strongly suggest that you take up these issues to the principal so that they try to train all their teachers in effective, child friendly ways to handle the children.

Hi,
I am a parent of BGS NPS. As far as discipline , I can say that it is better than any other schools. Children have the tendency to play ,joke in the bus. They enjoy the bus journey. You can not ask them to shut their mouth. Thy are active and they need the freedom to laugh, shout etc. That shouldnot be considered as indiscipline. Over all I rate this school as A plus.
