GEM+ is the pre-primary/primary wing of the GEAR foundation and follows an enhanced Montessori method of education. The school is located off of the (Marathalli-Sarjapur) Outer Ring Road, The admission policies are like any other pre-school (childern being 2.5 years old). GEM+ recommends parents to get in touch with the school regarding admissions when the child is around 2 years old. Children can then move onto to GEAR Innovative International (from the 1st to 10th standard)

I applied to Gear for my 2y3m old son, got a call from school that admissions are open only in Confident Gear this year and not in main branch. Did anyone else who applied get such a call? They said we could visit Confident-Gear and do registration formalities in main branch. Could parents who send their kids to Confident Gear please give their feedback on the school? How are the teachers, how does this compare against the main branch? Any idea what the registration includes - is it only administrative (as it sounds), I need to pay Rs 650 for this.. any idea on what next? Will they again shortlist and call folks selected?
Any inputs would really help.. thanks!

Our daughter was in Confident-GEAR from M0 and in M2 now. The admission process was completed in the main school. We are very happy with the school and teachers. The montessori section is in par with the main school mont.
Right now it is the montessori section and came to know that it's new school campus will be functional this year . The new school ( Confident-GEAR Creative Leadership School CGCLS ) work is going on. When you visit the Montessori school you can visit the new campus too. Understood that the infrastructure in CGCLS will be very good and better than the main branch.

I heard that the infrastructure of Confident Gear school on Outer Ring Rd is not even ready yet - could you kindly let me know if this is true. Also, heard that this has only Montessori, and kids have to go to the Kundanhalli branch after mont. - is this correct?
Any other info on this school (Confident-Gear opp Confident Orion apt) would really help.
Does the Confident Group run school mgmt too - or have they just invested in infrastrucure.

I mentioned about Confident-GEAR in Sompura, Opposite Confident Orion, Sarjapur road.
The new campus is coming within 2 km radius from this montessori near Sompura Gate.
Construction was going on. I am not sure about in Outer ring road.
Confident group has invested in Infrastructure only.
Management, Teachers etc are by GEAR Foundation. So anything related to school you should check with the GEAR main school.

Confident-GEAR Creative Leadership School was featured in Times of India Sunday edition ( 28th Nov 2010) in the school suppliment.
GEAR is also coming up with a school in Whitefield, near Sai baba ashram.
Kids from their new Montessori in Marathalli (GEAR - Rose) will be going to this branch.

Admissions are going on for the the new school Confident-GEAR Creative Leadership School ( CGCLS) in Sarjapur for Montessori and Class 1 to 5 for the academic year starting June 2011.

Their equiry form says:
Please Courier / Post a write-up about your child and copies of academic records (if relevant) of the child. The school would get back to the parents if registration is possible. There may be no response if copies of academic records are not enclosed or registration is not possible.
My son is 4 yr old and we will be returning to India in October. I am seeking admission into Kindergarten for him.
Any idea what one should cover in the write up and what are the copies of academic records expected?

Not sure if this school is that much in demand. If so, not sure why it is so much in demand.
When we contacted the school, they told us that for the next academic year (2009-2010) they are only admitting students in the entry level Montessori and apparantely no admission in all the other standards/grades. That's something!!!
Does anyone else hear this from GEAR? Can anyone share any additional information about this school. Thanks in anticipation.
GEAR foundation - I used to have my kids in this school and have moved them out - long back.
I'm writing this after long discussions (over a few years) with parents like me who have been completely disappointed with this school. And who have been desperate to move their kids out of GEAR to find other alternatives.
They don't walk the talk.
They probably cater perfectly to the crowd who move to India between school admission seasons and who have very less choices otherwise.
They used to have a lot of atrrition of teachers.
If you are the one, who can home-school kids after sending them to GEAR, perhaps its OK. If you are the one, who anyway does not care what they teach and what kids learn in school perhaps its OK.
Please don't fall prey to what they say they follow - Multiple intelligences etc. They don't do that much!
Montessori may be doing OK but higher classes - I doubt it!

I would like to share my views on GEAR during the school hunt. Pls consider this as my personal thoughts.
GEAR is not so "famous" or "advertised" like other schools in Bangalore. Even I have realized the educational values there lately. I found it to be one of the best school. not because of the appealing school building or facilities. You should visit the school and meet the Principal Mr.Srinivasan. They have entry at the age of 2.5 years for the Montessori ( GEM+ ). It is an enhanced montessori program. What you heard must be true!!!. It will be very dificult to get in 1st std or above . I heard that most of the seats get filled very soon. The school follows lots of new learning approaches with creative thinking etc. Their admission procedure is very simple and straight forward. I have visited almost all the schools on Sarjapur road ( IIS, DPS etc )and finally decided GEAR for my kid. I have talked to some parents too.
Recenlty Bangalore's leading developer Confident Group has tied up with GEAR for the expansion. New GEAR schools are coming on Sarjapur Road. It is starting with Confident-GEAR Montessori Plus ( C-GEM+) opposite to Confident Orion.Another school Confident-GEAR Creative Leadership school( C-GCLS), Sarjapur is also in the plan. School pays too much stress on kannda and 1'st student kid is expected to write a poem in kannada. So school might be good for kannadiga but since most of people in b'lore are outsiders, school should not expect outsiders to appreciate this. I know of some parents which are planning to take their wards out because of this reason.
I am trying for my kid's nursery admission and finding it really hard to select a good school. Everybody has has its own standard of best/worst. Some likes NPS /sishu griha which have already proved themselves, and some prefer relatively new school like VIBGYOR, Gear, Deens, prakriya etc.
I see some problem with new schools that they are not able to retain/get good teacher and some like Gear chaging their methodoly moving from "not much emphassis on acadamics" to "stress on acadamics" because of parents pressure.
Its really confusing for first time parents to decide which one to choose as this decision is very important, as it gets really difficult to get admission in any other class apart from nursery.

As part of my school search I have visited couple of schools so called "international" in Sarjapur.
It was more of like resort..swimming pool..and many other facilities .kids just relax and enjoy. I met the Principal in one such school and surprised to hear kids will not have exams until 5th. or 7th and they want to give freedom to kids and relaxed atmosphere. I couldn't agree with this. I believe kids should be prepared to face examinations as per our indian education. The principal told us they are "also" giving importance to academics.!!!. I feel academics should not be compromised for anything.
Nerver heard that GEAR changed the teaching methodology. what I heard and understood that they are giving importance to academics. But not pushing students just for exams. I have talked to the parents. I came to know from the meeting that GEAR is one school paticipating in ASSET exam and last year they had very good result. Finally I have choosen GEAR. I was not ready to put my kid through any international and experimental schools which they are not even sure about. Here is a link which I read couple of weeks back.

I am not sure about Prakriya,VIBGYOR history whether proven or not. I think VIBGYOR started last year?
But GEAR has already proven with excellent academic results and skill based exams like ASSET. Very few schools in bangalore participate in such exams.
Some of my relatives kids are studying there. They are pretty happy with the school.
Many creative work is added in the curriculum for the skill development something like individual project, paper presentation etc.
