Sindhi high school was started in 1982 on Kumara Krupa Road and is known for the quality of education they provide. The Hebbal branch was establish in 2003 and offers all grades starting from Nursery all the way till the 12th standard (got about 1700 students). Sindhi High Schools are administered by the Sindhi Seva Samithi. |

we had our interaction at 9:00AM morning. this was my first visit to Sindhi (My father had brought the application)
The Interaction was in their auditorium, the security directed us and we were welcomed by team1 of 2 ladies who screened our Interview letter and gave a token number, as per that we were seated with other Parents who were waiting for their turn
they also gave out a questionnaire on
- How far we are from school (we were in range of 0-3 Km)
- Annual income
- Our view on education
Team 2 consisted of 2 teachers, each interacting with separate kids
1. arranging Blocks (sorting shapes) and stacking those rings depending on sizes
2. She took out two books and asked my son to identify colors, shapes, animals and fruits, except strawberry my son did it much beyond my expectation :)
Teachers was very welcoming and warm, my son got in very well with her in a minutes, and she encouraged him in all questions

This was on High stage, with again two desks with 2 ppl each (lady and a gentleman), who were looking quite important :), i mean who can decide to give seat or not
1. He said Hi, and asked kids name and his school i mean play home, which my son answered,
2. asked my son to sing a rhyme
3. asked us where we work and how far from school,
finally since we both are working they asked us how we are going to take care of kid etc, our ans was since we leave with my Parents and my wife work from home currently it's going fine,
So from our Part there is no reason for rejecting my son, but still..
Results will be announced on 19th Dec.. so waiting for next two weeks
Well after all the hype if i express any anger it will "Sour Grapes" story, we didn't get the seat. so.. nothing much to say
-we were within 0-3 km from school
-Both parents Graduate/Post graduate from best colleges in Bangalore
-Live with Parents, my father is retired lecturer from Reputed college
-Income is is decent
-My son answered all their queries/questions
Still we didn't made the list, now i got an offer from some x saying each trustee has 2 seats and which are available for some X $$,
So now we are back to square one in search of a school
i completely agree with you.. there is no value nor recognition for kids who did exceptionally well. these morons will never understand the pain of parents.
there should be reason given for not selecting a kid..
i think our education system and our country is also going to dogs.. there is no transparency in anything.. its only money and influence which works everywhere..
The way the Office executes interact with the Parent's shows the status of this school.
There's no respect for the Parent's and not sure what can they teach our kids.
The interview's are just for name sake, everything is pre-decided.
My daughter answered all the questions put forth to her and there is no chance that she could get rejected if the selection was fair. The education standard of this institution has come down a lot and just because there are few schools near Hebbal, Sindhi management is exploting the parents and waste the time.
I felt this is not the institution to be worth for my daughter. I could not see even a single happy face on the selection date on dec20th. They don't have courtesy to inform the parents on the delay for shortlisting the nursery students.
Feel good that your kid is not selected in this worst institution.

Sindhi school, Kempapura, had an entrance test on 27th May 11 for admission to classes from 1st Std to 6th Std. The entrance results are going to be out tomorrow (31st May 11). I learn that the list would be only those who have recommendations...any more thoughts from anyone?
I agree with you pushpa, there is no criteria for selection in Sindhi school.
They may go for recommendation or bribe. It is not an exceptional school who deny bribe.
When they are giving without recognising talent, then pupils are going to suffer and what standard of education you can expect?
Let us try better school, they wated our two days and Rs. 200/-.
When they are having just 150 seats, why they gave application for more than 2000
they are minting money in application also.

I would like to know which are the other schools are you trying out.
We had applied for Nursery and were called for the interaction. My daughter did all the activities excellently and within no time. She identified all the colours correctly, she completed the puzzle, she built all the building blocks correctly, she identifed all the fruits , the teacher was so amazed and she appreciated it a lot, also all other parents watching her came and congratulated me.
But she did NOT get selected. it was shocking for me, Poor girl she did so well and she didnt get selected! what was her fault, feel so bad about it. There is no distance issue, we stay just 1 KM away and both of us are post graduates Msc & MBA.
I really DO NOT understand based on what criteria they are selecting. why are they simply conducting these observations/interviews when they are not selecting based on this ?
Also I Heard that more than 50% of the seats are reserved for recommendations. YES its true most of my friends are trying with recommendation. I also knew a person who recommed and get a job done, but I decide I will not excersize that, if they dont recognize my kid's talent, they are the looser, not my daughter, I dont care a damn for this school.
Its not very surprising that education is totally commercialised today. Thought sindhi school was great but over the years just learnt that its just based on rote memory with lack of effective teaching just incrteases fees without anything extra just like bankers and moneylenders increase their interest but banks atleast provide extra benefit but sindhi school just increases and increases the money without empathising at all. Lack of effective teaching is so visible when substitute teachers are made to just kill time for absent teachers rather than managing and engaging the kids. It was really nice with the former principal rather than this present one.

sorry for the late response, I had actually stopped checking about schools.
currently we have decided that she will continue do her nursery also in the same school where she is doing her playschool right now.
Have actually stopped hunting for schools.
we will see next year may be.
also there are many other new schools comming up in north bangalore
like New Age and Akash International.
I had been to the Times Kids fair in palace grounds,came to know abt many new schools. will let you know if I decide something

I do not think sindhi is considering performance of the child as a major criteria (Please do not ask me why !). I know a kid which answered most of it wrongly and still got selected previous year.
Secondly how the parent interaction went is also important. Was there any indication given that you are a part of mobile group moving across cities ? How did it go ?

i am student of sindhi high school hebbal
presently in 12th std (2010-2011)
i am in this school from 2003
the was really amazing till i was in 10th std(i.e. till 2009) after which it has lost its all top teachers who are excellent in their subject
now a days the school put lots of burden on students.
the new teachers entering have very less knowledge of their subject
the present 12th teacher are unable to answer our doubts
i do know the school has good name
but i highly recommend parents not to put their child in this school
i have experience of 8 years
please make a proper decision its your childs future

My daughter went through child interaction at Sindhi School on 3rd Dec for Nursery.
We were called for the interaction at 10:30am and completed the process by 1pm....as expected it was crowded...the child had to go through a small test to identify colors, object's etc and then a interaction with the principal.
Though I am a Sindhi still no assurance were given about the seat....I was told that the results will be announced on 13th Dec.

we too had gone for both the interactions dec 2nd for KK road and 3rd for hebbal.
my kid had done very well for both
but still we dint get it
so think its the distance factor. i stay 6kms away frm hebbal and 8kms away frm KK road

I called this school admission office y'day (08-Nov-2010) and they told me to contact in April. I was looking for admitting my son into L.K.G for the academic year 2011-12.
