As per the school's website - "Sishu Griha is a co-educational institution with classes from Montessori to Class X. The institution is affiliated to the Board of ICSE, New Delhi." Typically, stuendets are admitted in Montessori (who then move on to 1st grade after spending 3 years in the Montessori stream). Admissions to the later grades (1st onwards) are done through tests (and depending on the vacancy). English is the medium of instruction. Kannada and Hindi are taught as Second and Third languages. Computer Science is introduced at class I level and continued up to class X.
Options as prescribed by the ICSE Board, are offered for the High school students, such as Music, Cookery, Computer Application and Economic Application at the Group 3 Level. The range of subjects is kept flexible, to expand in keeping with the global need and demand for expansion of the vistas of knowledge. |

I woiuld like to know if anybody has ever seen any case where sishu-griha has given admission for its Mont-2 and mont-3 class, even if it was through approach. ...

officially, the don't give any admission for mont-2 and mont-3 but I wanted to know if anybody has ever come across any parent who had got admission for their ward ? may be approach case or high donation ?
Our child got admission. The donation is 60 and first year fee is 50+. They asked us to pay the entire money thru DD in 3-4 days.
FYI.
Interview went well. They asked why we are interested in Montessori system and the school etc., They observed the child during the discussion with us and at the end asked her to play with some toys (Montessori toys!!!!).
We are happy that she is selected. Our only worry is that the fees is little high-side (than our expectation) and more than that they asked us to pay in 3-4 days.

I have been waiting for the call from the school for my child's admission too, but haven't received any call from them so far. I do not know why did they not consider our application. Just wondering if they have even processed our application at all.
My son's DOB is 31st of May 2007. We stay just a KM from the school. These were the 2 things that we highlighted in the application. We also included our professions(of both parents). We haven't included our salary or educational qualification. Did that matter for them for not having considered us?
Could you please tell me what groundwork did you do to get the admission? Or anything that I missed to be careful about. Please let me know.

even my daughter is 31 may'06 born and we stay a stone's throw away from SG. last year we had pinned all our hopes to get admn. into the school but we were not called. I don't know what criteria are they looking for..DOB (even if it is a matter of 1 day)definately has a upper hand than distance from school and good background of parents.

Thanks for your wishes. Am not sure what is their crieteria for selection. My groundwork was done to know more abt the school on academic and other areas like child handling, home works etc..not on the crieteria for selection though!
However, we followed the format prescribed by them on the box that they had kept outside in September. It included details like Salary also.
Suggest you visit the school to knw why your child has not recvd a call. Keep going and one day they will allow you inside. Just a suggestion

Even we have got admission. Fees structure is similar.
As a mother, having done good ground work, I would say it is worth it ...in the sense it is the BEST school with no punishments, no academic pressure. Child friendly :)

As I understand your kid is within the age limit specified by sishu griha. I don't understand why they have not called you till date. I guess the interviews will be over by 18th.
The management seems to be very kind in general. They ask why Shishugriha?
They will get back by Dec 20th.

WE attended the interview today. It was general discussion. They asked 'why u have selected Sishu Griha' that's all. We were informed that if our kid is selected, we will get call in 20 days.....
I have to tell my experience when I called them for my daghter's admission. The lady who took the phone doesn't know the basic manners to answer the questions. Moreover, she got irritated when I called and cut the call abruptly. Bad manners indeed!

Serious problems with security of children - especially for those children who play in the playground - everyday, i repeat EVERYDAY, lots of strange people play with the school children in the basketball court, some of these rogues watch the girls and try to get close to them. The school does NOTHING about this problem - probably because the playground is a public playground and does not belong to the school. Many parents have repeatedly complained to the school but they do NOTHING!
I am sure there is going to be a big problem some day. This note can be used by the police as a reference for gross inaction by school in response to a potential crime.

to be frank chances of u getting call is very less. As a kid know to me (DOB in march) did not get call till date. When enquired they told the same age limit problem

the sibling'sperformance is also taken into consideration.
If the kid has done only ok in the interview, they r seeing if the elder sibling is performing well( as a gauge as to how the younger one will also perform).
Just by having an elder sibling in the same school isn't a surety to getting a seat. As competition is increasing , they wanted to take in only the best ( as they see it).

This school is a very nice school. Only they have a dedicated Montessori System.

They called in the afternoon. My child is exactly 3 years as of june. Hope this helps.

Hi All,
I am also waiting for a call from sishu griha. They said they will call by 2nd week of December if my child is shortlisted for mont-1. Yesterday we had a interview in NCFE and my kid was selected. The worst part is they have given time till 4th of Dec'09 to pay the fees and it is too expensive, total of 98000. Really confused whether to wait fo Sishu Griha, NPS koramangala or to join her in NCFE.

Please remember that if they ask you if your are living in joint family with grand parents, say yes. It will help I think...

Otherwise no questions to kids as such. Mostly they talk to parents and ask them why they are interested in their school.. and like stuff....

Yes Hindi too is an option.I have a friends kid studying over there, who has opted for Hindi as the 2nd langusge.

OK, seem to have gotten the correct information from the school. The school will inform during December.
Called up the school earlier today.
Was told that the admissions to Montessori for the next academic year (2010-2011) are over already. WOW.
For the rest of the classes (1st grade onwards), they are asking parents to get in touch in October-November time frame.

I dropped ithe application on 1st september. My son would be exactly 2 yrs 9 months as on 1st June 2010. He meets the age criteria, but then someone told me that sishu griha does not prefer kids whose both parents are working ... Not sure how far it is true because I know a couple of my friends who got the admission through despite both parents being working.

Even i also got similar reply. They told me that, they consider only 2.8 to 3 year. My kid will be 3yrs and 6 month by June. I was eagerly waiting to apply, very upset by this reply.
I called up today and enquired about the admission for Montessori for my daughter and they said tmrw is the last day for accepting applications. I filled out a form now and going to submit it tomorrow.
My daughter will be just 2.5 years by June and iam not sure, whether they will accept her or decline because of age restrictions.

This is what is given in the school website:

Montessori section -2 ½ to 3 years as on 1st June of the academic year
(Age criterion is strictly adhered to and is not negotiable)
Any further information regarding registration, admission, fee structure or withdrawal may be obtained from the school office
I think the admission procedure is vary from schools to schools. In Schools like GEAR the child can start the mont-0 at any time of the academic year when the child is 2.5yrs You dont have to wait for June. By June the child will move to Mont-1. Infact I feel this method of admission is right wrt Montessori program. Age is given importance than the academic year.

I would like to share whatever I know about montessori system.
The montessori education is quite different from Kindergarten ( Nursery-LKG-UKG) Pattern. As per the montessori ideal age to start the montessori program is when the kid is below 2.5 Years. That is the right age to start Mont-0. The school may be right in their approach 3.5 Years is too late to start montessori. It is found that when the kid starts the montessori as early it is good.
If a kid is starting normal pre-school at the age of 1.8 or 2 years(say Kidzee, EuroKids or any such school for that metter) and like to get admission in montessori when 3years is a difficult scenario. The kid must have been adjusted with the play-way method followed in play-schools and montessori approach is entirely different from that. So if you had a plan to go for montessori the best way could be to start the montessori when the child is below 2.5Years.

sishu griha is a nice school and the monetessori is good, with good teachers as well. i think the fee should be around 30 or 35k per year..call 25213941 and find out from the school directly. bye.
i am a student of sishu griha and no way will the fees be 3o to 35 k as the 10th fees itself is 30k.
No for montessori, fees is more than other classes, it is in in range of 42-43 thousand per annum. Recently they increased it substantially.

My daughter is 30 -May born and will be completing 3 yrs as of Jun 09. When I called the school last week to enquire if we should be waiting for the interview call, I was told that the admissions are over.
besides, i dont quite follow this logic of having to strictly complete 2.8 to 3 yrs by Jun. Going by this logic the whole school population would be celebrating their Birthday between Mar to May!!!

I don't think it matters, as before submitting I ask whether it should be hand written or printed copy would be o.k, and they said both are ok. I have submitted printed, as I found it to be error free and clean.
Does it matter ? what kind u have submitted and what is the issue u r facing ?

Good luck with the admission process. I don't think the they will respond back that quickly. If I remember right, they are still taking admission forms till sometime in October. I would think they will wait for some time at least before they start with the calls. For e.g. - NPS calls people around Jaunary/February time frame. Not sure about Shishu Griha.

you said that your kid will be 3 in May'09 , but when I enquired on phone, they mentioned that they don't consider kid of even 1 day less/more and kid should fall into 2.8 to 3 years as on 1'st june. My son will also complete 3 years on 17'th june, hence he will be 13 days more, so I have also very less hope of getting the call. Admission is a big problem in these good school. NPS has already issued form in Aug once, looks like they are issuing it once again in Oct. Do you guys have any idea of their criteria apart from giving preference to sibling, alumini and teacher's kid ?

I tried to get the birthdates of kids who have been studying in Sishu gruha since their mont..jun, jul , aug month born also...so i don't think you should lose hope...pls share the birthdates of kids you know that are studying in shishu gruha so that we can create some opinion and get some idea about their age criteria...
nps and new horizon starts to give out their forms from 15th and 16th oct resp..
i have no idea abt the selection criteria..yes, but have heard that nps gives pref. to siblings, kid's dad should be working in a good company.
in shishu gruha, they give pref, to kids who's mother is NOT working or if working, the kid should be from a joint family (with grandparents)...
we r living in NJ,USA. We r going to relocate to Bangalore very soon. Now, the birthdate of my daughter is August 22 ,2003... What is the cut of dates for getting admitted to the 1st grade for the year 2009? Since her birthdate is August 22 ,2003, can u pls. let me know whether NPS/shishugruha can take Aug born to the 1st grade for 2009...

thanks for info. One of my neighbour kid is also May born and he is with sishu griha.
His mother is working but in-laws are putting up with them and same is the case with me, but I am just wondering will they give a call as I haven't filled this information( joint family) in application form.
